Run

My new fave song, Run, by the band AIR. Click to hear a sample.

It's on the soundtrack to the film, Lila Says, and plays in the scene pictured here, where the two main characters cruise on a moped through an industrial neighborhood full of beautiful old dilapidated buildings.

Groovin' and Shakin'

I needed to get my groove on, so I downloaded some new tunes this week...

Nothing from this album, however I do love the aesthetic...
I don't agree with everything she does, but this compilation of Bardot tunes from 1963-1970 (published in 2004) has some rather psychedelic, snazz-tastic tunes. Check out: Tu veux ou tu veux pas, Moi je jou, and Nue ou soleil...

Then I spiced things up with a couple of French rapper MC Solaar's toe tappers: Non Merci and Carpe Diem...

As well as Oxmo Puccino's song, 365 Jours, which I think is my fave...
But I'm always looking to expand my music library, so please tell me some of YOUR favorites!

Stuff we all need

These essential items can be purchased at Archie McPhee's. While you're there, check out their bridal registry! They have everything I've ever wanted. In fact, I'm not quite sure why I'm not part of their creative team. We share many the same obsessions... cupcakes, food characters, squirrel underpants. Hmmm....

Survey Results - Who's Your Favorite Mushroom?

WOW. The results of my 7/26/10 survey really sent some people over the edge. But I can't blame them. I was rooting for Bobby too, although I didn't vote because of conflict of interest.

Here are all of the results...
Congratulations to Craig!!! He wins a one year exclusive modeling contract with the FunGuy modeling agency and a full page spread in Mushroom Monthly! It was a close race and all of our contestants deserve a round of applause. Many thanks to all who voted! You are all winners!

Cover art - Rough character sketches in pencil

I've been working like mad on the cover art for my upcoming book of collected work, Hot Donut Salad. Here are some pencil sketches of (clockwise): Timmy, Dollface, and three different sketches of Chicken. The difference between the 3 Chickens is his feet and his stance. People think that little blob-like characters are easy to draw but in reality they're sometimes the most challenging.
