It's a color combo that I'm really into lately. I think I got inspired by the Bee Fresh bee. Isn't he the cutest?

Get your Freak On!

Here's a preview of my piece, Grusha - Woman with Horns (four limited edition prints), which will be in Space 242's upcoming show, Get Your Freak On! 

The show opens this Friday April 30th with a public viewing reception 6:00-8:00 p.m.

There will be a second opening reception Friday May 7th 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

I think this is going to be a great show - it's such a fun theme. Many of my uber-talented and freaky artist friends also have pieces in it. I'm excited to see the freakage!

Pest Design

I rediscovered this comic yesterday while cleaning. It's by Dan James and the story is told in pictures, no words. The art is very stylized and beautiful. The book is small and square, 5 x 5 in. It's a lovely art object in and of itself.  

It's about the only time I've appreciated the mosquito, and I truly detest them. But this image made me think that as far as insects go, the mosquito actually has a pretty elegant design.

Actually this is a vintage birthday card by Sunshine Cards. I'm not sure when it was published. The inside makes no sense whatsoever. It says, 'Happy Birthday' and then has a guy holding an armful of candles next to a cake and it says, 'Be careful with those candles.' 

Cuz I said so...

Spring is here to stay! (cuz I said so). So I planted my flowers yesterday...

p.s. Life is crazy busy for me in the next couple of weeks, so I apologize in advance if my blog postings are spotty. I will get back on track once things settle down!

Bright-eyed and cruddy!

I saw this Thumper soaky at an auction. He looked like he could use a little sudsy soaking and scrubbing himself. But I actually like him looking a tad cruddy. He's more down-to-earth, and that much more approachable. 

Lettuce Pray

WOW. You crazy lettuce lovers! The "Lettuce Pray" hat was the most popular Easter hat choice in our 3/29/10 survey. The "Hot Dog!" hat came in second. I was surprised that some of the other hats didn't get more votes. I think I will be wearing the umbrella hat, just to be safe. I also love the Fez (but I confess - that may be because I'm crushing out on the model)! 

Failed Blog Idea #1...

This is an idea I had for a made-up blog that's sure be a flop. It would feature anecdotes, opinions, essays, poems, touching personal tributes, and little-known facts about all things beige. So please feel free to share any memories you've had with something that's beige - whether it's your favorite countertop surface, coffee mug, or an old telephone - and who knows, maybe I'll actually make this fantastic blog idea into a reality!
