Barrel of Laughs

Barrel of Laughs is another old timey book I picked up at the used book store in Freeport, Maine. It's a collection of jokes, puzzles, riddles, etc. I bought it because it reminds me of my childhood, and I love the illustrations.   

Awesome feet.

Rochelle Potato

These are draft sketches for Sexy Vegetable(TM), Rochelle Potato. I decided to go with the version on the right because I thought her head was more authentically potato looking.  

Peggy Covers the News

I found this book at an amazing used bookstore in Freeport, Maine over Thanksgiving.

I had to buy it for my friend Peggy. I had no idea she was covering the news!

These chapter illustrations were cool and kind of mod. 

Fashion Illustration

I found this book, Fashion Illustration, Inspiration and Techniques, at my local library, and it's been really helpful for me at this point in my Sexy Vegetables project. I've never really given much thought to the clothes my comic characters wear. I haven't really had to (Timmy only wears underwear and Bruce is a monkey, etc.). But each Sexy Vegetable has her own style, and it needs to be expressed through her clothes! It's a fun new challenge for me.

Also can I just say how awesome it is to live near a great library. I can't believe all the great books I can take out. For free! I love the library!

Cosmo and Joan

Our upstairs neightbor's cat, Cosmo, comes down to our pad regularly for treats. He gets his snacks and then goes on his "rounds" through the apartment, inspecting it to make sure all is in order.
